এশিয়ায় হিন্দুধর্ম

হিন্দুধর্ম এশিয়ার একটি প্রধান এবং সর্বাধিক অনুসরণ করা ধর্ম, যা এশিয়ার মোট জনসংখ্যার ২৬% এরও বেশি ব্যক্তি অনুসরণ করে।^[১] ২০২৩ সালে, এশিয়ায় মোট হিন্দুদের সংখ্যা ১২৩.৫ কোটির বেশি বসবাস করে।^[২] এশিয়া বিশ্বের হিন্দুদের প্রায় ৯৮.৮% বাস করে, এর মধ্যে আবার শুধু ভারতেই বিশ্বের মোট হিন্দুর ৯৪% এ বসবাস।^[৩] উল্লেখযোগ্য হিন্দু ধর্মাবলম্বী জনসংখ্যা সহ এশিয়ান অন্যান্য দেশগুলির মধ্যে রয়েছে নেপাল , বাংলাদেশ , পাকিস্তান , ইন্দোনেশিয়া, শ্রীলঙ্কা , মালয়েশিয়া এবং সংযুক্ত আরব আমিরাত।^[৪]^[৫]^[৬] এশিয়া হল বৃহত্তম হিন্দু জনসংখ্যার আবাসস্থল, প্রধানত ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশীয় অঞ্চলে ।^[৭]

Hinduism expansion in Asia, from its heartland in Indian Subcontinent, to the rest of Asia, especially Southeast Asia, started circa 1st century marked with the establishment of early Hindu settlements and polities in Southeast Asia.

ধারণা করা হয়, হিন্দুধর্মের শিকড় সিন্ধু উপত্যকা সভ্যতায় প্রায় ৩,০০০ খ্রিস্টপূর্বাব্দে সিন্ধুনদে শুরু হয়েছিল এবং ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশে ছড়িয়ে পড়েছিল ।^[৮] যদিও হিন্দুধর্মের ইতিহাস লৌহ যুগ থেকে ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশে ধর্মের বিকাশের সাথে ওভারল্যাপ বা সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ, এর কিছু ঐতিহ্য প্রাগৈতিহাসিক ধর্ম যেমন ব্রোঞ্জ যুগের সিন্ধু উপত্যকা সভ্যতার সাথে সম্পর্কিত। এইভাবে হিন্দুধর্মকে বিশ্বের "প্রাচীনতম ধর্ম" বলা হয়েছে।^[৯]

হিন্দু শাসক ও রাজবংশ দ্বারা হিন্দুধর্ম দক্ষিণ ও দক্ষিণ-পূর্ব এশিয়ায় ছড়িয়ে পড়ে এবং গুপ্ত সাম্রাজ্য বা গুপ্ত যুগের রাজত্বকে হিন্দু ধর্মের জন্য "সুবর্ণ সময় (Golden period)" হিসাবে বিবেচনা করা হয় এবং ধর্মটি রেশম পথের মাধ্যমে মধ্য এশিয়া ছড়িয়ে পড়ে।^[১০]^[১১]^[১২] মধ্য-পূর্ব এশিয়ায় বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন অংশের সাথে বাণিজ্যের তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ অনেক হিন্দু উপনিবেশও ছিল।^[১৩] যদিও ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশ আফগানিস্তানে ইসলামের বিস্তার এবং মুসলিম বিজয়ের সাথে এবং দক্ষিণ-পূর্ব এশিয়া , বিশেষ করে ইন্দোনেশিয়ায়, ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশের ধর্মে হিন্দুধর্ম হ্রাস পেতে শুরু করে এবং সঙ্কুচিত হয় ।^[১৪]^[১৫]
