ভারতীয় ভাষায় শোওয়া বিলুপ্তি
শোওয়া বিলুপ্তি বা অকার বিলুপ্তি বলতে উচ্চারণের সময় কোনো ভাষার লিখিত রূপে অন্তর্নিহিত শোওয়া বা অনুরূপ স্বরধ্বনির বিলুপ্তিকে বোঝায়। এটি অসমীয়া, উর্দু, কাশ্মীরি, গুজরাটি, পাঞ্জাবি, বাংলা, হিন্দি সহ যেসব ভারতীয় ভাষার লিখিত রূপে শোওয়া বা অনুরূপ স্বরধ্বনি অন্তর্নিহিত, সেইসব ভাষায় পাওয়া যায়। মারাঠি ও মৈথিলীর মতো ভাষার ক্ষেত্রে অন্যান্য ভাষার প্রভাবে শোওয়া বিলুপ্তি ঘটে।[১][২]
বোধগম্যতা ও স্বরাঘাতহীন উচ্চারণের জন্য শোওয়া বিলুপ্তি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। যাদের মাতৃভাষায় এই শোওয়া বিলুপ্তি ঘটে না তাদের ও স্পিচ সিন্থেসিস সফটওয়ারের ক্ষেত্রে এটি সমস্যার সৃষ্টি করে, কারণ এই ভারতীয় ভাষার লিপিগুলি এটি প্রকাশ করে না যে কোথায় এই শোওয়া বিলুপ্তি ঘটে।[৩]
উদাহরণস্বরূপ, "রাম" (राम) শব্দটি সংস্কৃত ভাষায় উচ্চারিত হয় রাম্অ (আইপিএ: [raːmɐ]) ও হিন্দি ভাষায় রাম্ (আ-ধ্ব-ব: [raːm])। হিন্দিতে "রাম" শব্দটির শেষের শোওয়া ধ্বনি (ə) বিলুপ্ত হয়।[৪]

বিভিন্ন ভারতীয় ভাষায় শোওয়া বিলুপ্তির নিয়ম বিভিন্ন। যেমন: বাংলা ভাষায় সংস্কৃত থেকে উদ্ভূত শব্দের মধ্যবর্তী শোওয়া বা অকার বজায় রাখা হয়, যদিও এটি হিন্দিতে বিলুপ্ত হয়ে যায়।[৫] উদাহরণস্বরূপ, "রচনা" (रचना) শব্দটি সংস্কৃত ভাষায় উচ্চারিত হয় রচনা (আইপিএ: [rɐtɕɐnaː]), হিন্দি ভাষায় রচ্না (আ-ধ্ব-ব: [rətʃnɑː]) ও বাংলা ভাষায় রচোনা (আধ্বব: [rɔtʃona])।[৬]
