বিশ্বময় বিশ্বাস (২ জুন ১৯২৩ – ১০ আগস্ট ১৯৯৪) ছিলেন একজন ভারতীয় পক্ষীবিজ্ঞানী যিনি কলকাতায় জন্মগ্রহণ করেন, তার পিতা ছিলেন ভূতত্ত্ববিদ্যার এক অধ্যাপক।[১] ১৯৪৭ সালে, জুওলজিক্যাল সার্ভে অব ইন্ডিয়ার তৎকালীন অধিকর্তা সুন্দরলাল হোরার তরফ থেকে, তাকে তিন বছরের একটি ফেলোশিপ প্রদান করা হয়। এটি তাকে ব্রিটিশ মিউজিয়ামে, আর‌উইন স্ট্রেসেমানের অধীনে বার্লিন জুওলজিক্যাল মিউজিয়ামে, এমনকি আর্নস্ট মেয়ার এর অধীনে আমেরিকান মিউজিয়াম অব ন্যাচারাল হিস্ট্রিতেও পড়াশোনা চালাতে সাহায্য করে।[১]

কলেজে তিনি তার পিতার ইচ্ছার বিরুদ্ধে, ভূতত্ত্ববিদ্যা নিয়ে না পড়ে, জীববিজ্ঞান নিয়ে পড়াশোনা করেন। ১৯৪৩ সালে তিনি কলকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে স্নাতক হন ও ১৯৪৫ সালে এম‌এস‌সি উপাধি লাভ করেন। জে.এল ভাদুড়ীর অধীনে কাজ করে তিনি ১৯৫২ সালে কলকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে পিএইচডি ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। ১৯৫৪ খ্রিষ্টাব্দে মাউন্ট এভারেস্ট অঞ্চলে ইয়েতির খোঁজে ডেইলি মেইল অভিযানের তিনি অংশগ্রহণকারী ছিলেন। ১৯৬৩ সালে আমেরিকান অর্নিথোলজিস্ট'স ইউনিয়নের কোরেসপনডিং ফেলো নির্বাচিত হন। তিনি পরে জুওলজিক্যাল সার্ভে অব ইন্ডিয়ার পক্ষী ও স্তন্যপায়ী বিভাগের দায়িত্ব গ্ৰহন করেন। ১৯৬৫, ১৯৬৬ ও ১৯৭০ সালে তিনি আমেরিকান অর্নিথোলজিস্ট'স ইউনিয়ন থেকে চ্যাপম্যান গ্ৰান্টস লাভ করেন, ব্রিটিশ মিউজিয়ামে গবেষণা চালানোর জন্য। পরে তিনি জুওলজিক্যাল সার্ভে অব ইন্ডিয়ার যুগ্ম অধিকর্তার দায়িত্ব পালন করেন, ১৯৮১ সালে অবসর গ্রহণ করা পর্যন্ত ও ১৯৮৬ সাল পর্যন্ত অবৈতনিক বিজ্ঞানী হিসেবে কাজ করেন।[১]

নেপাল ও ভুটানের পাখি সমূহের উপর তিনি কিছু উল্লেখযোগ্য কাজ করেছেন।[১][২]

তার সন্মানার্থৈ উড়ুক্কু কাঠবেড়ালির একটি প্রজাতি, Biswamoyopterus biswasi তার নামে নামকরণ করা হয়েছে।[১]
