'''আমাজন নদী''' [[দক্ষিণ আমেরিকা|দক্ষিণ আমেরিকায়]] অবস্থিত এবং এটি [[পৃথিবী|পৃথিবীর]] দ্বিতীয় দীর্ঘতম নদী। এর উৎসস্থল [[পেরু|পেরুর]] [[আন্দিজ পর্বত|আন্দিজ পর্বতের]] [[নেভাদো মিস্‌মি]] নামক চূড়া হতে। আমাজন নদী [[দক্ষিণ আমেরিকা|দক্ষিণ আমেরিকার]] প্রায় ৩০০০ মাইল পাড়ি দিয়ে পাঁচটি দেশ বিধৌত হয়ে [[আটলান্টিক মহাসাগর|আটলান্টিক মহাসাগরে]] গিয়ে পড়েছে। এই নদী যে পরিমাণ জল ধারণ করে তা বিশ্বের যেকোন নদীর তুলনায় বেশি। আমাজন নদী যেখানে সাগরে গিয়ে মিশেছে সেখানে প্রতি সেকেন্ডে ৪.২ মিলিয়ন ঘন ফুট জল সাগরে গিয়ে পড়ে। বর্ষা মৌসুমে এই পরিমাণ গিয়ে দাঁড়ায় প্রায় ৭ মিলিয়ন ঘন ফুট।
