In 2008, Forbes Magazine published a listing of the top 20 highest-earning pirates of all time. This information can be used to populate the |wealth= Infobox parameter in the Wikipedia articles for each of these 20 pirates. This template ensures that the information is presented accurately and consistently for each.

- where
- earnings is the earnings, in millions of dollars, as listed in the Forbes article. Do not include the dollar sign or any other formatting. Note that the output will be adjusted for inflation since 2008, when the article was written.
- earnings_rank is the earnings rank of this pirate, as assigned by the Forbes article. Do not include the number sign (#).

Forbes listed Samuel Bellamy as the highest-earning pirate, ranked #1 after having earned $120 million (in 2008 dollars). This would be coded as:

This appears in the following code, which produces the infobox at the top of this page, including the two reference footnotes shown at the bottom of this page. Note that the earnings displayed in the infobox above was automatically adjusted to $১৪২.৫ million in today's dollars.
