জানিস পলিস
জ্যানিস পলিস (২৫ জুন ১৯৩৮ - ১২ এপ্রিল ২০১১) ছিলেন একজন সোভিয়েত এবং লাটভিয়ান ঔষধবিজ্ঞান এবং রিমান্টাডিন সংশ্লেষণের প্রথম পদ্ধতিগুলির মধ্যে একটির বিকাশকারী, যেটি ১৯৬৩ সালে ডু পন্ট অ্যান্ড কোম্পানির উইলিয়াম ডব্লিউ প্রিচার্ড আবিষ্কার করেছিলেন।[১] তিনি লাটভিয়ার এলেজা প্যারিশে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। ৬ ফেব্রুয়ারী ২০০৯-এ, পলিস অসামান্য উদ্ভাবকদের জন্য বিশ্ব মেধাসম্পদ সংস্থা পুরস্কারে ভূষিত হয়।[২] পোলিস ৭২ বছর বয়সে ১২ এপ্রিল ২০১১ তারিখে লাটভিয়ার রিগায় মারা যান।
