English: A circa 1940-1955 photograph of Italian Libya era Tripoli, from the Tripoli Bay harbour

The Ottoman era Red Castle (Tripoli Castle museum) is on the right, and the corniche and former Teatro Miramare (demolished 1970s) are on the left.
The Italian colonial Piazza Italia (1930s-1950s), or present day Martyrs' Square, is between them with palm trees and monument columns.
This is also before the 1960s bay landfills expanded the city's land to and beyond the photographer's position on the harbour's water.
