The unit lb st is a "combination" meaning "pounds and stones", and it can only be used for an output. It is possible to convert using an input combination, as in {{convert|2|st|7|lb|kg|abbr=on}} which would convert a single measurement of 2 stones and 7 pounds to kilograms (like this: ২ স্টো ৭ পা (১৬ কেজি)).
• I added two units (Energy kt(TNT) and Speed kn) above. Please add the symbol/name in each of the four places where "??" appears for these units.
• I have fixed the symbol and name for st. Please check.

Number grouping

Some comments in the tables above say that numbers should be grouped so there is a comma every three digits (as in standard English, like 123,456,789). That is easy to do—just omit the line "group = 2" from Module:Convert/text (or change "2" to "3"). However, I asked about that previously, and was told to group only the first set of digits by three, with other groups being two digits. See "How should numbers be grouped?" above. Ranges

A recent edit added the following example, and pointed out that the English "to" appears in the output:

There is a lot of text in Module:Convert/text that needs to be translated, and that includes the "to". I have been putting off pointing that out because there are many things in that module that would be hard to understand, and they are hard for me to document. One issue is that the module was intended to be compatible with the convert templates used at en.wikipedia, and those templates have grown over several years and contain several odd features that may not be needed here.

The "to" is found by viewing Module:Convert/text and searching for "range_types". Translations are needed for "and", "or", "by", "to about", "to" (although the translations for "and" and "to" have already been supplied). The "exception = true" code is responsible for the hyphens being inserted in the output in the last of the following examples (when abbr=on is specified to abbreviate both input and output, and adj=on is specified to give the adjectival or hyphenated form):

I think the way I would do this is to change the module so that you could still use the English "and", "to", etc. in the convert, but the Bangla text would appear in the output. In addition the Bangla text could be used in the convert (so {{convert|76|to|86|cm}} and {{convert|76|থেকে|86|cm}} would give the same results).

If someone feels bold, go ahead and edit the module. However, be careful because if you break something, you might make all the converts in all pages immediately fail (although you might not see a problem until a page is edited or purged). It would be safer to put the translations here, and I'll edit the module (please add them below).

Warning messages
These use Template:Convertwarn which I just created. It includes warnings=yes which enables warning messages. We can think about putting that setting in the standard Template:Convert, but I have not done that yet because it may generate a lot of messages due to mistakes in the wikitext. Results

At en.wikipedia, a decision was made that using lk=on should not link "thousand" and "million" because those terms should be familiar to readers, and it is better to not have unnecessary links. I did not explain that earlier, and I'm not sure if the links are actually wanted here. At any rate, it's easy to fix if not linking is preferred.

The above tables show examples of the recent translations. Please let me know if they are ok, or if anything needs to be fixed.

Unit types

All units are derived from the table at User:Johnuniq/Conversion data. I do not always update that page when making a change, but when I update the units my procedure is to edit a master file on my computer, then run a script which generates the "Conversion data" wikitext from my master file. Then I run a second script which generates the Lua script shown at Module:Convert/data from the wikitext. The names of the section headings in the conversion data are used as the unit types. That is, translating the names of the unit types involves changing the section headings. However, it's better if I do that because my master file should be maintained as the master for another month or two while we finish doing the translations because it is easier for me to make consistent and correct changes using that file.

The following table shows each of the different unit types. There are many strange units which are probably not used here, so a translation is not needed for every item. However, you may want to provide a translation for each name. When you are ready, I will put all the changes in my master file and update the wiki. If wanted, there may be further information available at en:User:Johnuniq/Conversion data which is nearly the same data, but which uses links to en.wikipedia. Yes, "$" is a string, and an image cannot be used. If it were needed, "Rupees per unit area" would be a good name. Examples of how $ is used are:

The convert module is not able to convert between different currencies (it has no knowledge of how to convert between dollars and rupees, for example). I suggest just keeping "$" and "£" and translating the names—that would help if an article is copied from en.wiki and the article contains a convert like one of the above. The above "Unit type for bn" text will only appear if an error occurs, for example:

That means there is no need to worry about the exact wording because it will rarely, if ever, appear. Also, I would not worry about adding currencies that may be wanted here. Per units

Some units are defined in terms of one unit "per" another. The word "per" can be translated, and I'm hoping a simple word-for-word substitution will work.

One unit uses "100km" where 100 is a multiplier of kilometer. The "100" is translated.

Some of the above converts display English because the units have not been translated. The current data defines the unit "100km" as being 100 times km. That allows "L/100km" to be defined as "liters per 100km". If you want to use that unit, a new definition would be required—is "L/100km" wanted? how is it written in symbols (abbr=on) and in words (abbr=off)?
