চিত্রসমূহ উইকিপিডিয়াতে ব্যবহৃত অনেক ধরনের মিডিয়াগুলির একটি এবং সেটি ফটো, অঙ্কন, লোগো বা গ্রাফ হতে পারে। ব্যবহৃত সমস্ত ছবি ফ্লোরিডাতে, মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে বৈধ হতে হবে (যেখানে উইকিপিডিয়া সার্ভারগুলি আছে)। চিত্রগুলি উইকিপিডিয়া ওয়েবসাইট বা পার্টনার উইকিমিডিয়া কমন্স ওয়েবসাইটে সংরক্ষণ করা হয়। সমস্ত ফ্রি কন্টেন্টগুলি "কমন্স" এ সংরক্ষিত হয় এবং একটি কপিরাইটযুক্ত চিত্রগুলি যথাযথ ব্যবহারের ভিত্তিতে উইকিপিডিয়াতে সংরক্ষণ করা হয়। এছাড়াও, প্রধান পাতা তে ব্যবহৃত চিত্রগুলি ধ্বংসপ্রবণতা প্রতিরোধ করার জন্য একটি স্থানীয় সংস্করণ রাখা হয়। সম্পাদকগণও প্রয়োজন মনে করলে উইকিপিডিয়াতে একটি স্থানীয় সংস্করণ সংরক্ষিত করতে পারেন।
চিত্রগুলিকে ফাইল হিসাবে শ্রেণীবদ্ধ করা হয় এবং ফাইল এর উপসর্গ বা চিত্র এর অপ্রচলিত উপসর্গটি ব্যবহার করা হয়। Files are in one of the main twelve namespaces that are used on Wikipedia.
Since Wikipedia is not censored some readers and editors may find that they come across images that invoke squeamishness, are in bad taste, or are offensive.
