তাওয়েরেত
প্রাচীন মিশরীয় দেবী
প্রাচীন মিশরীয় ধর্মে তাওয়েরেত (বানানান্তরে তাউর্ত, তুয়াত, তুয়ার্ত, তা-ওয়েরেত, তাওয়ারেত, ত্বের্ত ও তাউয়েরেত; এবং গ্রিক ভাষায় Greek, Θουέρις – Thouéris, Thoeris, Taouris and Toeris) ছিলেন শিশুর জন্ম ও প্রজননের এক রক্ষয়িত্রী দেবী। "তাওয়েরেত" (Tȝ-wrt) নামটির অর্থ "যিনি মহীয়সী" বা সাধারণভাবে "মহান"। ভয়ংকর দেবদেবীদের এই উপাধি দ্বারা সম্ভাষণ করার প্রথাটির খুব চল ছিল মিশরে।[১] এই দেবীর রূপটি বিড়ালের বৈশিষ্ট্যযুক্ত এক দ্বিপদী মাদী হিপোপটেমাসের রূপ, সেই সঙ্গে দোদুল্যমান মানবীয় নারীস্তন, সিংহের হাত-পা ও থাবা ও পিঠ ও লেজ নীল নদের কুমিরের মতো। তাঁকে সাধারণভাবে "স্বর্গের নারী", "দিগন্তের অধিষ্ঠাত্রী", "জল-অপসারণকারিণী", "শুদ্ধ জলের অধিষ্ঠাত্রী" ও "আঁতুড় ঘরের নারী" বলে উল্লেখ করা হয়।[২]
