বুদাপেশ্তের জনসংখ্যা প্রায় ১৭ লাখ। [[দানিয়ুব নদী]]র দুই তীরের শহর - পশ্চিম তীরের বুদা ও পুরানো বুদা, এবং পূর্ব তীরের পেশ্ৎ --- এই শহরগুলি একত্রিত হয়ে [[১৮৭৩]] খ্রিস্টাব্দের [[ডিসেম্বর ১৭]] তারিখে বুদাপেশ্ৎ নগরীর পত্তন হয়। বর্তমানে এটি [[ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়ন]] এর ৮ম বৃহত্তম শহর।
