উইকিপিডিয়া হাজার হাজার সম্পাদকের অবদানের ফসল। প্রত্যেকেই কোনও না কোনও ভাবে অবদান রেখেছেন: কেউ গবেষণা দক্ষতার প্রয়োগ করেছেন, কেউ কারিগরি বিশেষজ্ঞের জ্ঞান প্রদান করেছেন, কেউ হয়ত দক্ষ লেখক, আবার কেউ হয়ত ছোটখাটো তথ্য যোগ করেছেন। সবচেয়ে বড় কথা, সবাই সাহায্য করতে, অবদান রাখার ব্যাপারে, উৎসাহ দেখিয়েছেন। উইকিপিডিয়ার সবচেয়ে ভাল নিবন্ধটিও তাই এক অর্থে এখনও সম্পূর্ণ নয়। প্রত্যেক নতুন সম্পাদক উইকিপিডিয়ার বিষয়বস্তুর মানোন্নয়নে নতুন ধারণা দিতে পারেন।
== উইকিপিডিয়ায় তথ্য সংযোজন ==
সম্পাদনাকারীগণকে নতুন নিবন্ধ তৈরী কিংবা বিদ্যমান নিবন্ধে তথ্য সংযোজন করে উইকিপিডিয়াতে নির্ভয়ে ব্যাপকভাবে তথ্য [[WP:BOLD|boldly]] সংযোজনের প্রতি উৎসাহ প্রদান করা হচ্ছে। তবে উইকিপিডিয়ার নিয়মানুযায়ী উইকিপিডিয়াতে ব্যবহুত তথ্য সমূহ অবশ্যই যাচাইযোগ্য হতে হবে এবং কোন মৌলিক গবেষণা ব্যবহার করা যাবেনা। বিশ্বস্থ্য সূত্র উল্লেখ করে কোন মৌলিক প্রবন্ধ নয় বরং আমরা যথেষ্ট যাচাই যোগ্য তথ্য উপস্থাপন করতে প্রত্যয়ী। সূত্রহীন তথ্য হয়ত প্রশ্নের সম্মুখিন হবে এবং মুছে ফেলা হবে, কারন উইকিপিডিয়ায় একটি ভুল বা মিথ্যা তথ্য থাকার চাইতে তথ্য নাথাকা উত্তম। একটি বিশ্বস্ত বিশ্বকোষ হিসেবে উইকিপিডিয়ার খ্যাতি নির্ভর করে এর নিবন্ধে ব্যবহুত তথ্যের যাচাইযোগ্যতা এবং নির্ভরযোগ্যতার উপর। এরুপ আপত্তি এড়াতে, তথ্য সম্পাদনের ক্ষেত্রে একটি “সংগতিপূর্ণ তথ্যসূত্র” সংযোজন করা উত্তম (এটি কিভাবে করতে হয় তা জানতে দেখুন: [[WP:Citing sources]] অথবা নিবন্ধের আলাপপাতায় সহযোগিতার আবেদন করুন)।

Several of our core policies discuss situations when it might be more appropriate to remove information rather than to preserve it. Redundancy within an article should be kept to a minimum (excepting the [[WP:LEAD|lead]], which is meant to be a summary of the entire article, and so is intentionally duplicative). Libel, nonsense and vandalism should be completely removed, as should material that constitutes a copyright violation. [[WP:Verifiability]] discusses handling unsourced and contentious material; [[WP:No original research]] discusses the need to remove original research; and [[WP:UNDUE]] discusses when not to include material that gives undue weight to a particular viewpoint.

Policies and guidelines are supposed to state what most Wikipedians agree upon, and should be phrased to reflect the present consensus on a subject. In general, more caution should be exercised in editing policies and guidelines than in editing articles. Minor edits to existing pages, such as formatting changes, grammatical improvement and uncontentious clarification, may be made by any editor at any time. However, changes that would alter the substance of policy or guidelines should normally be announced on the appropriate talk page first. The change may be implemented if no objection is made to it or if discussion shows that there is consensus for the change. Major changes should also be publicized to the community in general, as should proposals for new policy pages (see also [[Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines#Proposals]]).
