ফাঁসির আগের দিন গোরক্ষপুর জেলে তার মা তাকে দেখতে যান। তার মা দেখলেন রামপ্রসাদ কাঁদছেন। বিদায়ের সময় ছেলে কাঁদছে দেখে মা ঘুরে দাঁড়ালেন! ভাবলেন, বোধহয় ছেলে আসন্ন মৃত্যুভয়ে কাঁদছে। তখন তার মা দুঃখ করলেন যে , 'তুই এর জন্য কাঁদছিস! তুই আমার কত বড় গর্ব। তুই হাসিমুখে ফাঁসির দড়ি গলায় পরবি, এটা আমার গৌরব, আমি তোর মা। তখন রামপ্রসাদ বললেন, না মা এর জন্য কাঁদছি না। আমি কাঁদছি, আমি চলে যাওয়ার পর তুমি দুঃখ পাবে, এই কথা ভেবে।{{cn}}
