ইংরেজায়ন
ইংরেজায়ন বলতে বোঝায় যে প্রক্রিয়ার মাধ্যমে একটি স্থান বা ব্যক্তি ইংরেজি সংস্কৃতি বা ব্রিটিশ সংস্কৃতি দ্বারা প্রভাবিত হয়, অথবা সাংস্কৃতিক এবং/অথবা ভাষাগত পরিবর্তনের একটি প্রক্রিয়া, যাতে ইংরেজ নয় এমন কিছু ইংরেজে পরিণত হয়। এটি ইংল্যান্ড বা যুক্তরাজ্যের বাইরের অন্য দেশে ইংরেজি সংস্কৃতি এবং ব্যবসার প্রভাবকেও বোঝাতে পারে, তাদের মিডিয়া, রন্ধনপ্রণালী, জনপ্রিয় সংস্কৃতি, প্রযুক্তি, ব্যবসায়িক অনুশীলন, আইন বা রাজনৈতিক ব্যবস্থা সহ। [১]
ভাষাগত ইংরেজায়ন হল ইংরেজিতে বানান, উচ্চারণ বোঝার সুবিধার্থে বিদেশী শব্দ, নাম এবং বাক্যাংশগুলিকে পরিবর্তন করার অভ্যাস। [২] [৩] উদাহরণস্বরূপ "ড্যান্ডেলায়ন" (dandelion) এসেছে ফরাসি "দোন্দ-দো-লিয়ো" থেকে, (dent-de-lion) ("সিংহের দাঁত" যা একটি বন্য ফুলকে বোঝায় যার সংভৃত পাঁপড়ি রয়েছে) । উলেক্ষ্য যে এখানে শব্দের বানান এবং উচ্চারন দুটিরই পরিবর্তন ঘটে।
আবার অন্যদিকে বানান অপরিবর্তিত রেখে শুধু উচ্চারণের পরিবর্তন ঘটলে তাকে ধ্বনিতাত্ত্বিক অভিজোযন বলে। যেমনঃ ইতালি শব্দ (স্পাগেত্তি) "spaghetti" ইংরেজিতে (স্প্যাগেটি)।
